Should i go out on a date with someone i met on myspace?

So im new to this city and havent met anybody since i literally see different faces everyday without much of any repetition. and i started talking to a guy on myspace and well we havent really talked much and he asked me if i would go out on a date with him and i said that id rather not (since we havent talked much and i dont really know him) and then he said that he understood but that it could be something simple like baskin robbins or coffee and well its not that im all that interested in him but i havent gone out on a date in a long time and so i want to go for that reason but im also insecure about accepting cuz i hav never dated anyone from myspace
