Why do people tell me I'm NOT Black, just because I'm Latina (Dominican Republic)?

Because many people are ignorant to the fact that Africans were taken to the Caribbean and Latin America by the Spanish and Portuguese the same way that the English and Early Americans brought Africans to the U.S. In fact there are more Black and mixed people in Latin America than there are in the U.S. They think that being from a Spanish speaking background makes them "less black" which is ridiculous. They're descended from the same people, they just speak a different language and come from a different culture. This goes along with the equally ignorant belief that "Hispanic" is a race when in reality Hispanics can be of any race or mixture, including Black or White.
