How do I bring my yellowing "lucky bamboo" back to life??

I bought 2 "lucky bamboos" from Walmart and put them in wide vases with the rock you put at the bottom of a fishtank and then filled them with water. They were doing fine, but now one of them has started to turn yellow at the top. Is there any way I can bring it back to life??
