How to make my Ricotta cheese taste better?

Hey Im making lasagna and I have to add some ricotta cheese. Last time I made this dish the ricotta tasted really bland and didnt appeal to me much. And suggestions on what will make it tast better? Its a pesto lasagna dish. Mixing cream cheese and ricotta any good?
