Am I about to make a mistake in my life?

Ever since I was a kid I have been completely obsessed and enamored with the Military, I think the U.S. armed forces are just so . I'm 20 and want to join the Army and someday become a Ranger, but my reasoning for this would be because I think they're so bad. Do I not know what i'm getting myself into? am I disillusioned?
